Best Refurbished Injectors
#1
Seeing as I am planning to keep my pug on the road, and seeing as I want to get the car as good as possible. I have been considering refurbished injectors since reading about them on the other thread.

The car is on near enough 100k now. I bought a set of 076 injectors from eBay to try and stop rattle. No idea how many miles they had done (Stupid purchase really thinking about it)

So basically what do people think would be the best plan.

I'm thinking buy a set of 076 injectors off eBay as and when some come up cheap until I have a set of 4 and then send them out for refurbishment?

Does anyone have any suggestions of the best place to get them done? Plenty of places that offer a refurbish service but I don't want to get mugged off by a place where I just send them and then they clean them up a bit and send them back looking shiny haha.

Any suggestions guys?

Thanks in advance! Big Grin

Jack

personaly i wouldnt bother
i went down the route of exchange injectors, the ones refurbed made more noise than the ones i exchanged
i ended up buying a second set of low mile 076 from ebay that wer a lot better for less than quarter or the price of the refurbed exchanged set

Keep your eyes out on ebay for replacement injectors.

You can buy them individually new for not all that much in comparison to a refurb... End of the day a refurb with new components - i.e. a remanufactured (not just chucking it in a tester and seeing if the computer says no) will be best part of £70 an injector, a nozzle itself is best part of £50 anyway, let alone seals, calibrators etc, that doesn't take into account the price of said injector.

Cheapest you'll find around.

Although in honesty, you're not gonna see any sort of improvement worth arsing around with if it's only done 100k. I've seen improvements changing injectors on engines that have done 200k...

im not sure I agree tht you wont see any difference at 100k, given ive needed to change some due to rough running on a 110k mile C5 110 hdi. over a period of about a year I ended up putting 4 in as 3 developed faults and I was lucky enough to pick up dealer old stock for a lot less than the First Lucas reman unit from a local factors.

Well that's the thing! The engine is on 100k. The 076 injectors I bought off eBay however could be on any millage :/ it's hard to find second hand sets with proof of low millage. Ideally I suppose it would be best to find a low millage set of 076s and then refurb them to get the best set possible without buying new.

that's the thing, a new injector is about £110, so unless you buy them VERY cheap its not worth buying a second set just to have them refurbished when a new/remanufactured unit is very little more.
