Engine diagnostics
#1
Hi all,

I'd like to read fault codes to hopefully pin point problems, sensors etc. I've read that some OBD readers will work, however I've tried 3 now with no success.
I've been recommended Peugeot planet, but where is the best place to get it?

This is the cheapest I've found, but it says it has a 30 pin plug, and the diagnostics port in the rallye doesn't have that many pins.

Thanks in advance

That looks all correct Ben. You need the green ended cable for the rallye, in combo with the bit on the far right. Some of the other cables are for connecting to older Pugs, like the 205.

Have you got a Windows laptop? You ideally need XP to run the older versions of Diagbox. You may be able to get it to run on W7 if you have the know-how.

Ok cheers. Unfortunately I've got windows 7 and no computer know how! I guess it won't matter that it's second hand? Will the disc allow the program to be loaded onto more than one computer?

I don't think there will be any issue with loading it on more than one computer.  I'm sure between all of us on here we'll find a way to get it running on W7. (I've got XP & 7 so can have a play around with it).

Lexia/PP2000 is your only hope of talking to the ECU so you'll have to find a way to make it work!!!

Just looked at the original link of where the seller claims he bought it from - says v7.66 of software supplied which will work on W7 so hopefully you'll be fine.

Thanks for the reply, I will get one of these then, just got to find the best one. Was it really worth over £100 new? Because there's similar items for around £40 new -

And there's also one which says it's V7.83 for £70 -

As far as I can tell a lot of the cheaper versions ship from China, which raises issues about customer support if you have problems. They're probably the same as the Lexia copies you would buy in the UK tho. I paid about £70 from a UK supplier nearly 2 years ago.

Just checked n the person I bought mine from isn't selling them any more. What would be good is if someone on here has bought one recently n can make a recommendation?

Yeah I guess UK companies just buy the Chinese ones and sell them on for more. I've missed the second hand one as it ended earlier than I thought, so will have to go for one of the new ones. Yeah recommendations would be ideal I'll put a thread in the couch.
