Please could you tell me how many switch's are involved with the brake pedal please ?
One for the actual brake lights, and one for fuel cut off when brakes are applied. Some cars have this latter feature.
If the pug does, which switch is it ( fuel cut off or fuel reduction ) and is the switch normally open ( brakes off ) , or normally closed ( brakes off ) please??

never heard of this. There is a physical switch for the brakes as i have had this fall out before resulting in no brake lights!

The lads almera 2.2 dti diesel ( non hdi ) has this fuel reduction/cut off switch. real real good brakes.
Was wondering if the pug had it also, too old and decreped to do gymnastics to see under the brake pedal to looksee.
Will check vac hoses etc. as 3 days ago brakes seemed to lack braking power at bit.
Car was stood outside for 7 days or so and its been raining a lot. May have just been discs had "weathered", but will check to be on the safe side.

only one switch on a standard 306. if they ever had cruise control you would find two switches on the brake and one on the clutch.
none are fly by wire directly so there are no connections to the ecu.
