Bmw e46 320d white smoke
#1
So i bought a bought a e46 320d, 233k miles.
Got it serviced and changed the crankcase breather.
The Egr to intercooler pipe had a split in it so i got a new one and now its putting out alot of white smoke.
When i pull the pipe off the smoke stops.

Would it be turbo failing or intercooler blocked? Egr valve is abit cruddy but doesnt look too bad.

Scrap it, get a 306, no other car matters, sorted lol
Most likely to be the egr id think, was the pipe you bought used?

Have a 306 at the moment but fancied a change for awhile.
It was used but it's just a short rubber pipe. I cleaned it out beforehand.
Would the egr cause it too smoke if it was stuck

Could be burning oil sat in the inlet pipes/intercooler, I guess potentially clogged EGR

Is it just during periods of not being used on cold days starting or during running ?

try running it up to operating temperature then taking it for a long drive accelerating to get everything nice and hot then gently drive it for a few mile before parking and letting it idle to cool down the turbo.

See if this helps.

If not , there is more advice I can share with you. I've had my e46 320d 2 years now and love mine.
