New Disks and Pads - Front & Rear Recommendations
#1
I'm treating my 6 to a new set of pads and disks front and rear.

IIRC most people rate the OEM discs and Mintex M1144 pads for front and OEM pads for back.

Is that still the current best advice for a car that will see fast road (i don't commute in it) and the occasional track day. I won't be ragging it but plan to do my CAT B license at Knockhill and see how that goes from there. The' problem' is that i like my car too much and with < 40k on the clock it's still in great condition besides the paintwork and bits i've broken!! :Smile   So i don't want to destroy the thing on track. If i get the bug i may have to get another car! But first steps first.......new pads and disks.

If there are any discount codes or sites i should buy from that would be much appreciated too. Happy to have a set up that is better than i need - that less than i need! Smile

I certainly liked my set of 1144s, they were a bit noisy though. That was on OEM-spec mintex discs.

Edit: Bought the discs on ebay, i think the pads were from spoox. Bought everything as cheap as i could.

DS2500s were epic in my GTi-6. Not the greatest from cold but awesome once they had a bit of heat into them.

I guess that DS2500s and some brembo discs are good actually. That's the setup that'd go for. I've heard that yellow stuff gets to fatigued easily.

Thanks. Will get on the case when sober!

OEM discs with either mintex or ferrodos. Seems to be standard advice.

Glad to hear.

im running for the road
std bosch rear pads
std bosch front bads and disc
millers Racing brake fluid 300 PLUS dot4

for the track
i swap out the fronts for Mintex 1155 pads and std discs

be warned they are very dusty and do squeal if you can live with that they are great

ive been running the mintex on the road as i didnt swap them out since last track session
they are quite grabby cold and epic when hot Wink

i would defo upgrade your brake fluid on a std set up for track
