How much have you spent on your car
#1
Would be interesting to see how much people have spent on their 306s and any other cars, go for how long youve had it, how many miles and total expenditure on parts etc

I have owned my 306 since 2008, in that time I have covered ~120k miles.

Services were carried out ever 10k miles which is Oil, Oil filter and Fuel filter and cost £55 = £660 + £45 for the K&N filter.

2 x Windscreens at £90 = £180 (Excess is £70 so insurance can f*** off!)

LP Fuel pump, Door loom, Ball Joints = £270

Rear Drivers side caliper x 2 = £150

Brake discs + Pads = Unknown but most likely I have had 5 sets (I'm a heavy late braker lol) = £500

Tyres = Unknown but most likely 3.5 sets in total = £950

XSi replacement Alloys were £110

Droplinks replaced every year = £200

Front brakes = £200 as I went for an upgrade but should have cost £40 for a caliper carrier if I went the cheap route.

New Injectors = £250 but that was only because I got 'em dirt cheap.

Drivers door x 2, Rear glass = £120. I am unlucky at being broken into Angry (Currently looking for a 3rd if anyone has one in Silver lol)

2 x door mirror (One broke naturally, the other I broke when cleaning the wheels and using it to raise myself LOL) = £50

Dampers + Wheel bearing = £300

Timing Belt = £180

HP Pump + Timing belt due next week = £200

Audio Upgrade = £150

Fuel = Average over 100k was 56 mpg (Kept ALL fuel receipts) - around £10k

I am sure I will have forgotten a crap load but my reckoning, I stand at £14.5k Smile Some prices include labour, some don't as I did it myself.

Cars are expensive. Sad

China GTi6 (last years one) - 3 months - ~500miles

Parts - £280
Mods - £115
Wheel alignment - £30
Petrol - £75
Tax - £20
Insurance - £80

£1.20 per mile

Nile GTi6 (this years) - 6 weeks - ~300 miles

Parts - £220
Petrol - £50
Tax - £40
Insurance - £40

£1.16 per mile

Fiesta - 2 months (but paid fuel and tax for 3) - ~850 miles

£170 replacing broken parts
£110 Mods/interior plastics
£40 wheel alignment
£140 petrol (avg 33mpg)
£60 tax
£60 insurance

£0.68 per mile

Focus - 23 months - ~19000 miles

Mods - £200
DPF/EGR/Remap (inc insurance premium increase) (stupid DV6) - £340
Actual broken parts replacement (reverse light switch, engine mount, front pads and discs, glow plugs) - £200
Brand new alloy (cheaper than refurbing the kerbed one) - £50
Servicing (6k oil changes, stupid DV6) - £230
4x Dunlop tyres - £240
2x Wheel alignment - £70
2x MOT - £80
2x Tax - £60
2x Insurance (huge jump second year due to remap, stupid DV6) - £840
Windscreen replacement (totally my fault, stupid Tom) - £70
RAC cover - £130
Fuel (avg 55mpg) - £1586

That's £4k in 2 years!! Confused But only £0.21 per mile which is far better than I was expecting lol.

I never kept spreadsheets of the HDi's unfortunately, would've been interesting now.

Let me see, i was given the car with 10 months mot for nothing as it would refuse to start at random. I fixed the starting issue with bits off a spare loom, then replaced the rear beam, drivers window reg, leaking pas pipe, leaking coolant pipes, broken speakers and wipers with parts off a scrapper i've got on the drive. It had a rack end for the mot at £25ish...

Apart from that it was all mods - fiver for 4 tyres, fiver for spot lamps and another £40 on the snorkel and plastic arches. Got given the chequer plate, side steps and spare wheel and tyre, already had wind deflectors and scrap for the roof rack, exhaust and boot mount. Oh and just put a fresh mot on at £40.

That comes to £115 for essentially two years motoring, plus the usual insurance, tax and fuel. Big Grin

The HDI, I have spent 10k maybe more, that's only due to service, tyres, new suspension twice. Timing belt, fuel pump, two batteries, a crank pulley, one washer motor, exhaust.  most expensive thing has been getting the car painted, due to some f*cking lady garden, decided to put a nasty Key mark on the rear quarter, getting the side skirt, and bumpers repaired. Also my wheels painted too.

The car its self hasn't put a foot wrong at all! in the 9 years of been with me. The car is still on its original map too! only Decat, ITG panel filter and disconnected EGR valve, are the only things that i have done to it.

The metro side of things, i wont even go there. All i can say it is one very, very expensive car.
i am still throwing cash at it!!

If you want me to have a go on listing everything, i can try

Hmm alfa in 3 years has had;

2x turbos £120 for one, see below for other
2 gearboxes £80 for one
3 clutches £160 a time (valeo lasts about 9k before slipping)
3x mot £free
1 engine (because mine had 198k on it and got a car with 94 on it)
1 spare alfa 156 £220
About 8 tyres £220 ish
Suspension arms £75

Averages no less than 49mpg even if booted constantly.. Can hit 63 on a run

Not too bad for a shitty alfa thats covered around 40k by me..

I am a minimalist. 3000 miles a year. Fuel costs  5 litres / 50 miles.  £80 on budget discs and  pads  and a tyre that looked almost new at £25 included. £35  on MOT. That's about it.  It's a 306 for f sake.   it wants to go one for ever and ever  and eve and ev and e and .......... poof !!!
