Project refresh - Silver Hdi Hatchback
#1
So, long story short, attempted to post this, this morning, phone took a wobbler, messed it up. I'll reconstruct the first post, since the photos have attached themselves anyway Smile.

Hey guys, I posted my thread in the newbies section, introducing myself and my car, if you read it, you will know I purchased this Hdi off a friend after being stuck with a 2007 focus neesing an enginw after hitting a flood -_- I want to get the car as clean as possible and spend as little as possible!

The old Focus and the 306 Smile

One of the first things I had to do was dye the spoiler, it was rightly grey!

Next on my plan of attack was to tidy up the wiring and re route the microphone on the install my friend had done back when he owned the car (You take no pride in your work, you tit) [emoji23]

So this is my 306 Hdi as it sits Smile I have the option of buying the alloys off the previous owner or sticking tyres on the wheel trims, either way i'll need to get two tyres, and I have no intentions on spending money where I don't have to on this car [emoji23]

From the start of owning this car, it was commented on how hard the clutch pedal was, this was proven by the squeeling after the first week, and the pedal failing to return fully, so, with intention on driving it to my friends who id also my mechanic, I reversed out of my drive, and the clutch cable popped off the pedal, with the clutch fully out, I was in the hedge before I realised [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] With no damage done, my plan was to start it in first and bounce it through the gears with no clutch, this was going well until I got daring about halfway on my journey and went for fourth. This didn't work. The gear linkage popped off. So, there I was, stranded, no clutch or gear linkage, I probably could have got the linkage back on with no problems, but I rang my friend and got towed, it was less stressful.

So, 3 piece luk clutch going in tonight and a gearbox seal Smile get her back tomorrow [emoji2]

Attatched are a few photos of the touch ups so far, the primer hasn't been sanded down yet [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY] so don't think i'm doing half a job! Haha

I think it will need a set of mudflaps, and i would like to remove the rear window wiper delete grommet and replace it with a black plastic insert like I had on my Focus, a lit smarter looking Smile

The first pic of it with the trees is from a long time ago, from when the previous owner had it Smile

I want to bring it back to that look, only with a few more subtle touches like I normally add to my cars, I always seem to go for the Oem+ look, so, lower it, paint a few things, etc.

If I got a set of wheels off a more modern Peugeot I'd be happy, but I wouldn't be spending anymore than £100 on them [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

I love this "Metro" style of plates, had them on all my cars over the past 4 years and had no issues with police, but I do swap them out for MOT

Do I recall you saying the previous owner was one of our members? If so, do you mind me asking who it was? Just out of curiosity, mind. Wink

You say "more modern peugeot wheels", got anything in mind?

You would mate, but I don't know his username [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY] I'll text him in the morning Smile

And truthfully, I'm not too sure, is there a list of Oem Peugeot wheel names anywhere? That I could pick fromhaha

Started giving it a proper clean down today, when I say started, it took an hour and a half just to clean around the boot seal and the rear drivers door including the jamb, happy with the results [OK HAND SIGN] got the plates on also and washed it, but other than that, nothing else done.

So, back at the cleaning today, hopefully start buffing the front end Smile having a break, so thought I would share some photos as I'm trying out 2 Britemax products that were on offer.

Their iron clense has been known to be a "Lighter Duty" fallout remover compared to others on the market, I saw this straight away, having used others, but, bearing in mind I used it on an unwashed, wet car, the results on the wheels and wheels trims seemed okay, but truthfully I've had better results from other products when using them as a pre cleaner

And after hosing it down
[Image: fa3a4de77c521ccc0a7c0f0c841d881d.jpg]

Now I'm off to de-tar (Just using auto glyms intensive tar remover at the minute, not fused, its not that strong, but i'd imagine it would be Lsp safe) and then try out the Britemax "Chemical Residtant" clay bar Smile

Try here - http://www.peugeotperformance.net/tuning...heels.html - fairly comprehensive list of OEM peugeot wheels, should give you some idea as to what you'd like. Wink

Cheers mate, had a nosy, I reckon i'll look for a set off a fresher pug Smile

Sort of stopped taking photos throughout cleaning the car today, I found the britemaxx clay bar a heavy claybar, but, it did the job, using the bag test, the paintwork felt level and smooth to the touch, so I am pleased with it.

Also 3 staged and sealed the bonnet, thats as far as I got tonight Smile took the front badge off to make life handier, meant no masking, only for the bolt to damage the thread and ring itself in the badge, the nut was siezed, got it sorted though and its back in now after machining (:

Fitted some mudflaps to the back this evening, painted the calipers andthe arches got a deep clean, including dyeing the plastic liners, iron clensing, watered down caustic, and some g101 to degrease it all Smile went for silver calipers with black backing plates and disk edges (Yes, I know I painted the disk, but it will burn off)

Also, the yellow tape was just for marking the flaps, it came off once they were on [emoji2]

Well guys, its been a while since I posted an update because truthfully nothing major has happened, but heres a few photos to share, its now on a full set of the Gtis and a roof rack tha ks to the previous owner (Cheers Kris) I might take into stripping and cleaning down the interior along with a bit of reeiring for the audio side of things, the Backbox is currently off as we weld up a new straight pipe for it, after the knowledge of a gutted cat and middle box, they might get opened up again to pipe through them to keep a good flow (:
