Throttle Position?
#1
Hi guys,

I have the torque app on my phone and it has a throttle position % read out on it. Mine only goes up to 99.2% which I know isn't all that bad but I'm just wondering what it could be that is causing that? Am I right in thinking that it doesn't go through a variable resistor? Its a pulse setup?

I have tried just turning the throttle under the bonnet to full open and that hasn't taken it up to the full 100%. Could this be hints that the TPS isn't in great condition.

Im pretty sure when I put the torque app on originally it would reach 100%.

Do you reckon it would be worth stripping it down and cleaning it all out and re-greasing? There is a guide on here someone I will find and get it done this weekend along with my service.

Thanks Smile

Guide looks easy enough Smile

Get it on PP2k and see what that says.

If your ELM light isn't on then the TPS will be fine.

It's fine, if you look at calculated engine loads, you'll see the engine runs at 100% over ~95% throttle anyway. It's probably a safety feature anyway, I'm willing to bet all HDi's do not go to 100% as that would indicated a fault. iirc mine also goes to 99.2%

100% = 88miles an hour and we know where that leads!

Probably rounding error in the OBD protocol.

If you really must know, get yourself an ELM327 adapter and poll the ECU for the TPS PID and get the raw data back and do the conversion that is specified in the PID. I bet you it'll come back at around that value.
