Well I been meaning to start a project of some sort for a while now just haven't had the time as I'm always fixing the daily driver  

I am thinking of building up a 2.0 hdi as I have one in a doner I'm going to take out 

I am unsure on what car I want to stick the engien in was thinking 106 maybe never heard on anyone putting a hdi  in to a 106 before 

This project will be slow going to start with so bare with me the

There's a good reason you dont find them in 106's!

they don't bloody fit nicely! The engibe bay was designed for a bolt upright exhaust on the front tu engine, not a 30° lean back xu/xud/dw with exhaust on the back.

205 405 309 would be a better recipient.

That why u wanted to have a go a putting one in as it would be a challenge you no of anyone that done it before ?

Seen an XUD in a 106, was here/.net years ago. 106 NAD has a rear exhaust too.

I seen a few xud but never a hdi motor in a 106. Don't think I will be able to get the blower down the back anyway so Im going to have to be box mounted

I'm with everyone else 205 base same mounts etc. You can fit them in 106 as I seen xuds in them. But to name a few issues, driveshafts need making, gear linkages need making, chassis needs "notching" to fit gearbox in, engine sits at wrong angle, engine slightly too tall so needs dropping lower than normal. These are just the ones off the top of my head. A 205 is bolt in. Wire up, away you go. Far easier and cooler and safer imo.

Definitely wont go in a 104, engine bay is too narrow and not tall enough, my brother had a 1.1 ZL.

I got a 3 door, white, 1.9 DT, running, needs MOT but done 500 miles since last MOT. £300.

Bosch as well.

Don't have 300 hundred pound spare ATM as I got to pay for a holiday at the end if the week also my rent coming out but if u still have in next month I might have it off you

you're in Cornwall, that's where half the cheap 205's are! scrap is on its arse so you should be able to find an mot fail for a few hundred at most.


if you havent a few hundred quid for a decent donor car, then you can forget making it fit in a bloomin 106.

Even a lightly tuned HDI would be sweet in a 106/205, would love to see one in a 309 or 405 though!

Same basic engine block size shape gearbox mounts etc so you will run into those exact issues.

anyway had a few hours spare last night so started to strip down the doner an pull the engine out.

got a bit pissy when i took the front wheels off to find out the nuts had been welded on the drive shafts

because two new drive shafts would double the value of the car

i got bits and bobs turning up now gaskets, belts, few other bits and bobs and a turbo which i got at a pretty good price 

just checking i have brought the right belt  6PK1175 for ac removal ? anyone no off the top of there head

Yeah that belt length is spot on if your not running AC, got 1185 on mine with no issues (because it was £2.50 posted!)
