I have a feeling the wrong ecu is on my rallye.
I have an ecu here which I think is the original one and I want to fit it again.
The immobiliser in the dash has been removed which makes me suspect that it's the wrong ecu.
If I plug the immobiliser back in and it doesn't start I'm guessing that's gunna answer my question
But also if I plug the immobiliser, it doesn't start, and then remove the imobiliser will it start?
I don't want to risk messing about with it and causing it not to run, while its running.
It's bugging me as I'm a little OCD about it and want it to be original so I know it's 100%
It's probably a stupid question, but if I don't ask I'll never know

What difference will it make or is the one on there one of these shitty remapped ones?

Nah no difference in ecu.
Well not to my knowledge, tbh I'm not too sure how I've ended up with two ecus...
Something happened while buying/swapping the engine. And I now have another ecu. Anyway to tell?
Would any other ecu run a '6 engine? Like a xsi one?
I want to make sure it's legit and fueling everything correct
Will ecu numbers match the immobiliser numbers? If there are any, I haven't looked in honesty

Not from a 306 no. The GTI engine was the only one to run the 1AP ECU which uses sequential spark rather than wasted spark like on all of the other XU engines in 306s.

Good. At least I know it's running a '6 ecu
Well I'm not sure what ecu is on it, or where it came from. But I dont think its the one that came with my car, as when it was being worked on a pugperformace they removed the immobiliser unit to get it started which makes me think the one I have in my room is the one for the car which will match my immobiliser unit and key
