#1
Does anyone know what the differences are between the turbos from different year subarus? Seems a lot cheaper to get an older one..

I think the one you want is a td04 13L if memory serves, not a 13g or 13hl, don't know about the t's.

Sure someone will be along with slightly more useful info soon enough lol.

EDIT: Warning: Relying purely on info read on tinterwebz, no actual knowledge contained within this post.

Thanks for the info, very useful. Now for my next question, is it just the 2000-2004 impreza which has the td04l-13t? Because I have found quite a few turbo's from imprezas aged between 93 and 99 which have turbos which say td04l on the name plate, but do not give the '13t' or '13g' '15g' etc..

The name plate wont contain the 13t bit, only the first part, just google the serial number on the compressor and that turbo finder page will tell you what it is.

Main thing is to make sure its a front entry one as alot of them have a 90 deg bend on the intake which is a bit of a farce.

Damn, this is so confusing! Found a friggin 11G and thought I was onto something. I don't understand why they can't just give them different numbers if they are so varied in size. Can anyone tell which one this is? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/97-05-IMPREZA-...8738320%26
They all look the same to me.

A td04 11g is smaller than the 13's but dunno in comparison to a t2 or similar. But why go to the trouble if changing it when you keep it similar. Either get a 13/15/16 IMO I was looking for a 16 but money has stopped me for a week or 2

There would be an L, H, HL between and people don't usually go further than the name TD04 you'll be searching for a TD04L 13t iirc :-)

That's interesting, the only 13t's seem to be new ones, the 12t's on the other hand are very popular:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLVO-S60-V70-...416dee0ff4
Does anyone know about the 12t's?

Also, what do you do when it doesn't show it's type like this one:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Impreza...337e1e71ca

Good price but it doesn't say which type it is although it says it's front entry which I believe is good.
