Looking for another 306
#1
Video
Hi guys I've currently got a corsa vxr and I've never loved a car more than my old hdi I had a couple of years back. Any advice on picking one and what I should look out for? Also how much I am looking at spending on a good one?

this looks a nice one.,
That does look and sounds nice in the ad, if you are gng to look at one, get down under the back of the car on your back if poss and lift and drop the rear end with your hands, listen out for creaking from the rear axle beam and from behind the car have a look at the camber angle of each rear wheel, if they are sloped in a lot at the top then the chances are its gonna need a new recon axle for about £250 so figure this in to your budget! All 306's are old now and most have been sadly neglected in their later years so try and get a low previous owner car with a good history folder and receipts!
Also try get one that's recently had a cam belt change or again figure this into your budget as one of your first jobs to do!
Test all elecs and run the car up to temp! Most HDI's don't overheat unless there's a serious issue so get it on the motorway then do a few b roads and try to get a feel for sloppy rear handling and bangs and knocks from the chassis! Feel the floor carpets in the front footwells for moisture, if wet either there's a leak somewhere or the heater matrix is on its way out ( dash out job ) so make sure you get heaters upto temp and test on all fan speeds! If matrix is on its way out you will probs smell a sweet chemically smell coming from the vents!

Thanks for the advice and I like the look of that one looks in good nick. I'll have to keep an eye out for those things when I have a look at any 306's!
I'm not really a fan of 308's I've always loved the look of 306's especially lowered

Then get a low miler and lower it, just don't buy one that's already on its arse without having it checked by someone in the know about 306's

£100 for the ticket but how much was the fuel bill going home in the Lexus?
