Cant comment to be fair. Never had a hdi.

Just gonna C&P from last time.. In regards to K&N's killing MAFs

"it might be a coincidence and nothing to do with that air filter, just that they're 10 years old + now, if people replace them i would imagine most would try a 2nd hand unit first.. Again another already 10+ year old part, much higher chance of it breaking again..."

Pearoast. Tbh without running them in an actual vehicle for an appropriate number of miles the test is meaningless. That study has been conducted in a lab, as such it's almost entirely irrelevant to the real world. The fact remains it's a very common problem and there are regular posts of people who have replaced the maf with a new genuine item, blaming the old maf as k&n have, and then had that fail quickly too.

my MAF was killed by engine oil, the only time i got the filter oil through the filter was with 100psi from a air gun.
