Haha, that's not true at all...

Chicken is the name given to that species (Gallus gallus domesticus). It's culinary name also just happens to be - Chicken.

However, Beef is the culinary name for cattle (colloquially - cows).

In the same way as pork is the culinary name for swine (colloquially - pigs).
