boost leak

I think i have a boost leak, will it still be boosting at 12psi with a leak?

The elbow that bolts to the inlet manifold is a common leak, the gasket between the two fails on most of these

I had a look at the egr valve, and when i rev it the slightest bit it was opening, so i pulled the pipe off and plugged it. Will it still open when im driving?

Shouldnt do so long as it hasnt got the vacuum hose attached. It is possible that it could be jammed open a bit though so it may be worth getting an actual blanking plate to stop it leaking through
