Prev owner said his mechanic mentioned release bearing. But then i was told if it was the release bearing then it would be noisy when clutch is engaged, not the other way around.
I just don't want to cause any damage by driving around, as the rattling doesn't sound very healthy!

slight noise from our hdi clutch release bearing which disappears when clutch pressed......think about the plastic clutch fork shaft bearings whilst the g/box is off. the lower one defo needs to g/box off to replace....not sure about the top bush as the cable fork is remoevable, in situ?

I'm getting the clutch changed in just over a week, along with clutch fork bushes & driveshaft seals.
Suprisingly it went into 5th gear fine today which is normally a struggle.
I just didn't want to cause anymore damage by driving it daily

I'd be checking the 5th gear nut too.

Thanks a lot for the info.
My mechanic said he should be able to sort it this weekend now, so we'll see what the damage is!
