So as I can't let JJ and Tom own more cars than me this year again and I felt a bit poor only having one car on the drive I had to go out and buy something new.
I wanted another diesel and I wanted something that could tow the rallye and also I quite fancied something 4wd for a bit of green laning so I have bought myself a 2001 2.5TD Ford Ranger king cab World Rally edition (although sadly someone has resprayed it black so its lost the decals)
I've paid a grand for it and TBH I've seen them in worse nick for twice the money. Fuel economy is worse than the rallye, 26mpg on the motorway at 70 on the way home LOL

I'd like to but sadly 109bhp and a gearbox that makes it top out just past 100mph means I'm unlikely to catch anyone up to be intimidating.
That said the fuel pump is basically a Japanese copy of a Bosch VE and yes it has a max fuel screw, LDA and throttle stop

Not a f*cking chance, Love my pikey truck.

Yep its obscenely low mpg but its doing 3200rpm at 70mph and has the aerodynamics of a small bungalow.
Service, fmic and a de-cat should bring that up to nearly 30mpg

It's too low for anything other than very very light green lanes though, that'll get stuck in a boggy field as its got road tyres

The tyres on it are 65 profile and they should be 75s which would raise it an inch however you appear to be assuming it'll be remaining standard which it wont. Once I've had it through an MOT I'll probably be buying a 3" body lift and some 32 or 33" tyres. With a bit more money a suspension lift is on the cards.

Fake Bosch lol but yes it can run on veg.
It looks like parts are actually gonna be interchangeable between this and a real Bosch.

Had a fair few Jap 4X4s, mostly Pajeros.
Yeah, all the stage one tuning stuff applies to these engines and it'll be a hoot when you have done it, my snorkel used to whistle like hell next to my window when it was wound up.
Often can't put too much boost through them as they have a pressure relief valve on the inlet mani, check if it has one and blank it if it does.
Then the usual wastegate/max fuel/LDA/gov mods all work the same.

I'm not 100% we can do them tbh, too big, what's the gvw and wheelbase?
Regarding drifting one of these; not sure if the king cab is any better, but the standard 2wd 2 seater job is a tad sketchy - when it goes it f*cking goes lol. No doubt a v8 and mud tyres didn't help mind.
