HDI Power Loss

A few weeks back my 306 HDI felt sluggish at low RPM and then picked up a bit around 2500-3000. The car also has a pro_steve remap stage 1 (been on for a while and really transformed the car - cheers steve)

I got it into the garage to take a look. I saw some oil on the inlet elbow (boost leak) and then I found what I thought was the culprit:

yes, it looks like the car tried to ingest the air filter!

...But after cleaning and re-sealing the inlet elbow + EGR blank (while I was there) and fitting a new air filter today the car feels exactly the same.

I've tried disconnecting the MAF and the car feels even more bogged down when you accelerate.
I've read the ECU errors and apart from the MAF error P0100 (when I disconnected) there is only a glow plug error P0380.

I'm running out of ideas...
Could the MAF still be knackered but not producing an error?
Could the EGR valve be stuck or does that not matter anymore since I blanked it?
Something more serious?

Lol, might wanna change the filter more often! lol

It shouldn't be the MAF if it feels worse with MAF unplugged. EGR leak wont make any difference after its been blanked.

Could be FPR related.

The engine starts and runs absolutely fine - just lacking in the power department. i've had a quick look at lift pump and fuel pressure but these appear to be related to starting and continuing to run?. It's safe to drive but I won't be overtaking anything but a milkfloat.

If it's running on its definitely the fuel pressure regulator at fault. I had this exact same problem and a new fuel pressure regulator sorted it

Do you still have the air-doser assembly attached? Sack off the butterfly out of that if not.

If it's a 3 plug ecu it'll have the doser and it'll be at the bottom of the elbow. Remove the elbow and take the shaft and butterfly out if it has one.

Some of the single plug ecu engines have it too, otherwise as above.

What happens if you rev it all the way out, does it pick up later on?
