The other car
#1
I'm new here but thought would post my other motor.

I originally had a b5 S4 with 352bbp/422lbft, that was undergoing a 500bhp+ build with all supporting chassis mods. Anyway after spending 10k ontop of what had already been spent, and custom manifolds not fitting.....I got the arse and decided to get rid, and replaced with an E46 330D M sport Touring.

Bye to the S4, hello to the 330d.

So I collected her, took her straight to a specialist to check over and see what she needs to get perfect on the same day, booked in for 2k worth of suspension, mounts etc, genuine oem. Also put it on dyno to see if she's healthy........and turns out it's already mapped and has decatted downpipe. Standard roughly 200bhp/300lbft, mine has 285bhp/450lbft Smile

I've since put my private plate on, serviced, lowered, removed the egr & enjoy never seeing less than 30mpg. But she's now come off the road for the winter for freshen up, bit tappy up top which I think is a diesel knock. So injectors are coming out to be serviced, turbo is being rebuilt, replace clutch for the Sachs racing I have indoors and prob a new dmf too. Then she will carry on as my daily, the gti6 will come off the road completely for track only and get trailered by the derv Beemer Smile

Few pics & sneaky vid of the S4 being mapped Wink

Well I'm contemplating hybrid turbo and 535d injectors to go past 300bhp/500lbft but im on the edge of the transmissions limit as it is, quaiffe diff, another grand to the equation. I'm planning to leave it be now and focus on the 6

Must be tempting when you consider what you get for grand bhp wise on bmw compared to what a grand gets with the 306.

Hmmm, I've developed smokey cold start, so scanned and threw up all 6 glow plugs faulty, cleared and it changed to glow control unit. Also checked my injector values and looks as tho 4 and 6 are out of tolerance. Was gonna pull all 6 and get rebuilt anyway as I don't pay for it lol. So 6 injectors serviced, 6 glow plugs and new glow control unit to be done lol.

I've also just had a magnex catback delivered, and I'm gonna take it to my local guy and get him to remove my secondary cats and replace with straight pipe. 6 pot diesels sound quite good Wink

Remus exhaust sound BMW E46 330d / Wydech końcowy Remus dedykowany do BM...: http://youtu.be/erYAktORRvU

Although the values are a little off, if the reading is still in the green it'll be fine (anything in the green either way is ok) but anything in the red is out of tolerance

Module sounds like a pretty good bet, I mean what are the chances all 6 stop working at once?

That exhaust sounds pretty nice.. just makes me want to put something loud on mine Sad

Replaced the module this afternoon, think cause for these failing maybe due to coolant leaking from the fitting directly above? This is with old module still on....

I'm going to test the resistance of all the glowplugs tomorrow, and if they're ok they can stay put lol. I don't wanna risk snapping any just for the sack of changing them. Also gonna give the inlet a good flush try to clear some of the gunk
