hub nut removal
#31
I've never failed to remove a hub nut with it. And only once failed to remove a HDi crank pulley nut...but I couldn't remove that one with a bar either, no idea how it'd seized so badly!

It's mains though, not battery! I specifically didn't want a battery one as my battery drill is useless lol.

I couldn't quite believe it, but for all the cars Tom has owned and all the cruel things he says about our lovely xud9te's, he's never owned one Huh

Its an internet forum...you're allowed opinions on things you've never owned/seen/heard of... lol

You're right though, I haven't owned one, have test driven a couple (hence never buying one! lol ) and worked on one or two. I do intend to own one at some point though. I've never owned a '6 either! Confused

Touché!!! But I wouldn't quite call a 13mm a specialist tool now! A 13.43mm that's required to remove the racoon filter on a 6. That's specialist!

I know Matt but for Tom it's not "refined" enough

Joking aside I don't know how anyone wouldn't enjoy a big blown xud or even a good stage 1 like my old one, great fun and you get to keep your clothes on Big Grin

That was my point...don't need to waste money on special tools with the right engine. Wink Well expect the electronic magical cam belt tension tool....but just give it a twist and hope for the best lol.

People have different preferences though... Like I can't think of an enjoyable activity without clothes on, but I'm sure you can. Confused

In all honesty, I wouldn't enjoy a big blown XUD, I'd constantly be worrying about rod's falling out or turbos exploding and the engine running away. I'm fully aware this won't be understood by none-worriers who can just 'enjoy' things lol.

Good idea Matt. Let's also not forget the telescopic magnet for picking up lost bolts from behind the pump/alternator/oil filler neck!!

Yup, I got a smoothed and shaped old bolt for the locking pin, and the relevant bolts for cam and pump!

I will be making a custom 13mm spanner and socket for the fuel adjustment nut and screw too soon!

(telescopic magnet with an LED on the end for the win! lol )

I was poking around behind the dashboard with my magnet after a nut that fell in, the magnet stuck to something and i pulled it put, only to realize the magnet had come loose from the stick and still remains in the depths of the dash Censored

I has a 27mm socket and spanner (TBH i prefer the spanner on injectors for some reason)

I also have the 13mm "half moon" or "obstruction" spanner as they are sometimes called that was designed for stuff like bosch pump bolts.

I have 2 or 3 different ones of these with different strength/size magnets for different bolts/clips in different places.
