BSI
#1
Hi wondering if anyone can help me, Ive been searching on this and google and is the bsi under the clock in the centre section or is the bsi the wee box the OBD plug connects to.

Its just the bsi and transponder chip that needs to be changed in order to use the different ecu?

The BSI and ECU are locked together.

The BSI is under the clock in the centre section, accessed by removing the coin tray and ash tray, and then from under the dash.

If you want to change only your BSI and not ECU, then you will need to unlock your ecu.

thanks Smile I'm planning on taking the ecu, bsi and chip out of my car. I thought that if you unplugged the ecu whilst the engine was running it soft unlocked it.... I did this a few years ago but does it only work sometimes?

I have never heard of that method failing. I haven't done it myself, I have had no need to, so cannot vouch.

Plenty enough people have done it though, so would have said it will be fine Smile

Its actually a Body Systems interface and yes a PH3 306 does have one albeit it doesn't control much as iirc it was the first Peugeot with one, shortly followed by the 2002 onwards 206 and Partner which was fully CANBUS.

Alarm unit. Then you have the central locking unit in the rear quarter or under the rear seats

Peugeot list it as a BSI, its a BSI on PP and considering it is actually CANBUS (although this feature isn't used on the 306), the actual unit its self is a BSI. Its just a different software version on the unit.

specifically, part number 6580 18 CENTRAL LOCKING ECU

only found in HF central locking vehicles not the earlier IR plip systems.

not listed as a bsi.

Ah that makes sense.

Probably worth noting for anyone reading this thread for info in the future; not all ph2s had the unit under the rear seats.

For some reason my 2.5 didn't, although had the unit under the dash, and in the rear quarter.
