How come its suddenly seems expensive!?
Im eyeing up options as things may change dramatically next year for us...so may need some very cheap transport...anyway, cheap hack on two wheels is likely.
Can get a bike for a few hundred and store it and do it up enough. Insurance...couple quotes, average is £7 a month. Brilliant.
Tax..... £58 a year for bikes between 400-600.... What the hell!? When a late 2.0hdi is £30 a year??!!!
I be paying more road tax than insurance at this rate!?!

206 hdi late is £30
Still mad. When I will probably do maybe 3000miles at most on two tiny pads of rubber and do like 70mpg

Meh, there are some DV6's that fall into the free tax band. 
Don't know how bike tax works, but if its still emmisions based, that'll be why its expensive...? They are dirty petrols afterall!

Hmm, I wouldn't be so sure of that.  
Also, just checked, bike tax is done on engine size, not emmisions. So no idea why they cost so much lol.

my xl600v gets 75-80mpg on run and my zzr600 gets 55-60mpg the old cg125 i had was the best it was something daft like 100mpg

only thing with motor bikes, i know they are fun, but it only takes someone not to see you and that's it your game over practically!
My mate has kept at me for getting a motorbike, the two things are, i don't trust my self, and the i am a short arse.
bad enough having a highly strung egg beater!
i will ask my mate for a bit more info, as he is love his bikes. see what he can recommend for you porks

Yeah I'm all good...been riding for 5 years on a full licence bud. Trained up to teaching level.
I am very 50/50 with blaim and bike accidents. There are many accidents where the car/van/lorry driver wasnt paying attention, but a LARGE number of the bike accidents could have been avoided if the rider was being a better rider!
Ive never dropped it, bumped or come close to being taken out, can see situations where it may have happened, but been able to avoid. Also always owned yellow bikes and leathers and ride with lights on all day.
anyway...
Just bugs me with the tax!

So one of those gets less than a massive car with a huge metal box around you, loads of spec, loads of comfort, loads of safety equipment, saves you getting cold and wet and doesn't fall over when you stop...hmm, think I'll stick with a car.
100mpg isn't bad tbf, but is it worth the slowness of having a 125?? The only good thing about a bike that I can see is the power to weight ratio and the stupidly fast acceleration....which you don't get with a 125... When I was at college one of the other guys had a 125 (no idea what make etc lol, had no interest in it) and my Golf was faster!

Cheap, reliable, easy to service and work on, comfy and quick enough not to bore you, not so quick to die/lose licence and go to jail.
330bhp per tonne. That will do.

Wish I'd kept my Suzuki V-Strom 650...it's the only way I could make my 90 minute commute any quicker. Perfectly acceptable acceleration, good economy and a good view of the road. Plus comfortable for a guy my height.

Dont get a CB400 mate...so much better bikes out there for less money...the GPZ500 as an example.
I never took the final teaching test, as I was suddenly made aware that the pay is CRAP but I was close!! Some great training though...although I feel very rusty coz its been 2yrs since Ive ridden

All about looks and seating position on a bike for me CB400 is perfect for me / my style / my riding / needs / budget.
I know there's far better bikes out there, there's far better cars out there than 306's but i like 306's

CRF is amazing bike! Also had a go on a suzuki RMZ250 which impressed alot as abit of a road legal green laner / enduro bike

I know, I cant believe the CRF series bikes seem to go for less than the older XR series bikes. The CRF is water cooled and much more of a looker.

im with you on the tax! but if i compare it to my mini which is nearly 300 quid i dont mind forking out for the bike.. still get itchy fingers for a off roader ktm 400 infact
