Engine removal
#1
I'm going to be removing my engine from my cat b write off on the weekend and was just wondering does anyone know the weight of the engine, gearbox and auxiliary as my load lever has a max load of 680kg and I want to know if I can remove all of it in one go without having to split it.

I don't know the exact weight...but it's much less than that!!

The whole car only weighs 1100Kg so engine, box and ancills no more than 200Kg at a rough guess.

Cheers I just wanted to make sure as I know diesels are a bit heavier than a petrol one, as I've only ever used it to pull a complete starlet gt engine in and out with

Yup I agree with that - Tom's 200kg estimate will be in the right ballpark.

Depends what engine... can you see have a hdi, as said 200kg probably.

But engine weights and fuel types dont always mean heavy/light!! Gti engine is a lot heavier than a xud lump!
Wishes for more power...
