Whether it's worthwhile doing that vs. Turbo-charging an N/A 1.8/1.6 is another question though...
Think I'd just go for an NA 13b, far stronger and simpler. Good gains with a good carb and port tuning, 140-150bhp easy. Not as much as turboing but every bugger does that.

Spent the last 2 hours researching Volvo tuning, why isn't there just a big encyclopaedia of engines....

Dude, seriously drop the williams lump in if you're thinking of doing that, such an easy swap.

Edit: Or are you thinking of 850Rs?

850r's mostly, but I'll look at the Williams engine swap. Are the engines really that easy to come by??

Oh yea fo'sho, a fully-fledged twin-turbo 13BREW isn't a popular swap, the 12A is the NASP version which requires a fair bit of fabrication to fit. What I was getting at was whether it was worthwhile doing that fabrication work vs. the potential gains of just slapping a turbo / supercharger on the standard engine, for which there are many options and far less outlay!

It would be hard to justify, but the NA rotory does sound awesome.
Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

Yeah that's the thing, doesn't make sense in terms of pounds per horsepower but in terms of doing something more interesting. Quite tempted t do it myself, very tempted by an MX5...

Anyone got any experience of Mk1 MR2s? How much do we think it'd cost to repair a rusty wheel arch? Not just on these, it seems like a common problem with all classics!

Anyone ever heard of one of these? RWD apparently

Wow, now that's original! Never heard of it and looks awesome, although i can't imagine it'll drive well as standard what with being from a company that focuses on commercial and 4x4...

Not a fan of MR2s....bit gurly for me...but do stay clear of the mk1s.
The mk2s are so cheap anyway and are a lot of fun, reliable and LOADS of simple and pretty cheap upgrades to be had

I don't know to be honest, I'm gonna not buy until at least the end of next month (my second paycheck), and in the mean time I'm hoping to just test drive anything and everything I can. Drove the new MG6 yesterday, but that's a little different to what I'm looking for Tongue

The mk1 is a far better car, much lighter, much revvier engine, and it doesn't have the tendency to go through hedges backwards that the mk2 has.

Too rusty and not enough poke from what I've read.

Apparently the 4AGE (I think) is a stormer.

Redblock turbo would be insanely cool...

They can produce ridiculous amounts of power with very little work, finding one will be an issue.
