Hdi manifold/turbo? help!

Hdi manifold/turbo? help!

So on replacing the decat pipe for my hdi
I noticed when taking it off there was only 1 bolt holding it to the manifold.

It seems that the thread has rounded off in the mani because screwing the new bolt in it goes abit tight then loose again.

So my question is how hard is it to remove the mani?
Is it an engine out job or accessible from elswhere
If its a pita how long would it take a garage to do it on average?
Would a garage be able to rethread it?

Just dont want to be spending a fortune really

Actually not sure if its the manifold
Its this bit in the pic with the 2 studs where you attatch the decat pipe

Thats just the bend off the turbo, four bolts and very easy to remove

When I had my decat fitted the 'studs' you are refering to sheared. They took the old one out and fitted new ones in under 10 minutes and it was included in the fitting at no extra cost.

THey had the car up on a ramp and used a very long socket for fitting the decat and used a very long necked flame to heat it up to swap the stud.

He's talking about the downpipe flange, not the turbo elbow.

Buy a new fitting kit from your motor factors, will come with a new fire seal and all the washers and springs too, less than a tenner.

I did buy a new fitting kit from peugeot
But one of the threads on the flange has lost its thread so the new bolt wont screw in propperly

Its gone into a garage now to be re threaded anyway

Yes but its the turbo elbow that has stripped he said Big Grin the downpipe flange has no threads or fixings, only holes
