Simplifying aux belt

So removing the aircon is standard practice and i know a few petrol guys have got rid of the power steering, but has anyone got rid of both on a hdi?

How was the belt routing do the tensioners still do anything? It would leave just the tensioners and the alternator.

I know theres a few opinions on belt routing when the air con is removed so what about tensioning the belt with air con and pas removed?

Also the resevoir for it seems huge compared to the 106 electronic unit. Was thinking i could squeeze the pump put the way in place of that.

So anyone done it? Any problem in doing it?

Cheers

Ian

I have removed both PAS and A/C from my HDI engine, I used the original spring loaded tensioner and shorter belt. Might have a part number somewhere although it was one rib narrower than standard.

No side effects to it? Excessive belt wear or anything?

Just use a camblet tensioner to tension it Smile

I've even been kind enough to give you the belt size Wink

Nope, you just have to make sure the alternator pulley has a decent amount of belt contact to drive it.

Looks like I used spring loaded tensioner and cambelt adjuster :-)

cheers guys, looks like theres just enough room to squeeze it in, might have to change the washer fluid to a different bottle.

@niall can see why you didnt want it there, your belt still comes up for the charger.
