Right, this may sound odd, but I really like the leather/alcantara phase 1 door cards so recently bought all the parts to convert my car from Chris on this site.
I popped a card off today (drivers side) to see what I'd let myself in for...
Feck, this looks hard
I have the new bracket and I'm aware I need to drill the old one off and rivet the new one on - that part actually looks like one of the easier steps.
The loom issue - Chris sold me some conversion looms so they would be plug and play, but it seems like a real pig to pull the whole loom out and replace it. One loom also has a big 'box' within it, which I believe has something to do with the windows? I couldn't locate this anywhere in the drivers side, is it in the passenger door?
The other option I'm considering is to adapt the phase 1 door cards to take the phase 3 switches by getting clever with some body filler and extending the window switch wiring? This may seem long-winded but ultimately I don't have to muck about changing the loom this way!
Finally...
The bit which really has me stumped - I mean really - is the door lock pins. I have the phase 1 pins and length of metal wire they come with, but access is a nightmare and I can't see how the phase 3 ones are even connected!
The service box images leave a lot to be desired so any first-hand experiences or your own pictures would be very much appreciated!
Thanks for reading this far...
