Replacing rear beam mounts
#1
While the beam is off my gti6 I figured now would be a good time to fit some new mounts.

The square one is as simple as it gets to replace, however the front mount (with the two bolts) is causing me a bit of bother.

Basically, how do you get the bottom bolt out far enough to get the mount off? As it only comes out a couple of inches before it is obstructed by the trailing arm.

Am I missing a trick here, as far as I can see, the only way to get the bolt out far enough is to pull the arm out?

You have to force the trailing arm down and drift it out with another, longer bolt. It is a ball ache, but do-able

Looks like it's easier when the beam is on the car from the way you did it cully, I think I'll do the same as there's something to push against then rather than rolling around on the floor.

Cheers for the guidance fellas, rep accordingly

no there is no bracing inside, but once i clean them up and paint them, i will probably fill the void with silicon or somthing to stop water getting in and rusting them
