If it was a tight fit you could bang it in and weld it at the back ti prevent it spinning. Its not ideal though...especially when you forked out money for the correct item.

Yes.
I had to change a stub axle on a Phase 1 axle I got in order to use my Phase 2 "big" drum brakes. Phase 1 was too short.
They were both splined however.

knerled or splinde i would say is ok as long as its an interferace fit

but as said check the length as the fit ones to different models
