Intermitant charging problem
#1
Hi, thanks for reading Undecided. Ive got an intermitant charging fault on my hdi, which started a few weeks back. Really Annoying tbh, because it always seems to crop up when I really need the car for work. It started as the odd battery light coming on, which with a few revvs, and a good drive went out, but tonight its turn ugly. Volts across the battery (engine running) read 11 earlier, and now its not starting. It does seem as though the fault occurs when the lights/electrics have been drawing extra current, and in my mind that spells out voltage regulator. Theres no bearing noise from the alternator (running smooth as they come) and in general, all the electrics seem to work great, with no earthing problems. Ive just bought a regulator off ebay for it, and im wondering how hard they are to change. Its the Valeo unit, with the two wires found just below the expansion bottle. Many thanks Undecided
