gearlinkage help!
#1
Going looking at a 306 dturbo tuesday.
Guy said its stuck in 3rd gear. He reckons its a gear linkage gone.
So i need to know,
Are they common to go?
Hard to get at?
Could it be something different?
Will a 406 xud linkage fit or a 1.4 fit?
Any help greatly appreciated.

I have heard of them popping off but never had an issue myself. They're fairly easy to get at really, they're just behind the battery but lower down. Or just above the gearbox..
Doesnt even own a 306.

Is the knob floppy? If so, linkage has popped off.

The 306 linkages are all the same afaik (except TU long linkage has different angled ends depending on year). Don't know about the 406.

if the linkage has popped off take some cable ties, you will be able to zip tie it on then drive away Wink

A handy trick with worn linkages if they keep popping off is to use a foil crisp packet. Double it over and it takes up the slack in the ball-joint.
Crisp packets are often more available and quicker to bodge on than trying to truss up your floppy knob situation with zip-ties! Handy in emergency's Wink
