PC issues...
#1
Started on Win 7, just put 2x GTX 570 in to get support for three monitors, so no need for SLI cable. Took one card out, re-booted the PC and Ethernet port wasn't working. Tried to update the drivers and every time kept getting the message 'The realtek network controller was not found. If deep sleep mode is enabled, please plug the cable'.

Plenty of Googling later gave me a few options...
MOBO battery out
RAM out
Install new OS.

Obviously started with the easy thing first. CMOS battery came out.
No change.
Then the RAM came out overnight, along with CMOS battery.
Nothing changed.

So I decided to do a new install of windows to 8.1. Low and behold, nothing's changed again.

I have tried all the obvious BIOS stuff including flashing the BIOS, entering the 'advanced' bios (CTRL + F1) and checking all of that, but still nothing helps.
PC specs as stands now are;

I5 3570k
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P - most recent BIOS
Windows 8.1
GTX 570 - only have the one card in at the mo. Will be upgraded next month all being well and that I've got this issue sorted!

Any ideas as to what it might be now, apart from a dead LAN port?

Was it on board LAN or was it a pci card?

Sounds like a case of sods law to me, try and get your hands on a cheap psi card and disable the onboard lan.
