Black smoke smoke means boost leak.

What colour is your smoke Karl? As padge said black is overfuelling (caused by boost leak) and also white/grey smoke is usually retarded timing.

Boost leak if its black smoke............look for connections that look like they are blowing or failing that put some soapy water on all the joins and drive it down the road, you will get bubbles anywhere its leaking Smile

Favourites are the pipe as it comes from the turbo at the turbo end (you know, the one behind the engine thats a pig to get to) the inlet manifold gasket/manifold not tight enough or the "d-seal" connection.

Not really no, HG's don't tend to go unless the engine gets cooked, I know mine has popped the turbo end of that hose off a couple of times Karl so its worth checking for sure!

If its slipped slightly and not fully off you will be loosing boost though! I doubt it will be the TMIC leaking TBH but I have 2 at home if your in need of a replacement Smile

Do you have a boost gauge fitted?
