Ht leads arcing and pretty impressive flames up inlet
#1
Noticed the HT leads are arcing (by noticed I mean felt as I was touching it) also when doing so its backfiring some pretty sizable flames up the carb. I am guessing its firing the wrong plugs. is this down to worn leads or Is it a different cause? I'm thinking just needing new leads

Misfire + slightly worn valve seats/guides perhaps.

Mine does the odd blue flame up the inlet when it fires up in winter because the guides are getting tired and the extra ignition advance to get it started fires it off before the valve fully seats. Really makes the people at the petrol station happy.

Wind some electrical tape down the leads and see if it clears up.

i had this when i changed the HG on my last AX, turned out i'd put the ht leads on in the wrong order by mistake (not checking + 2am...lol) didn't have arcing though, i'd investigate what's causing that first...

Arkings normally a pin prick in the boot that surround the plug, makes for fun finding it, as ripp says electrical tape them and see if it stops
