Little update:
Boot is almost welded up but welder has packed in so thats on pause for now. Found a couple more little patches of rust aswell but not bad.

Made a start on centre console today, cut out a plate for switches etc and started making a plate to mount the original 3 switches in.

Done some work to the 106 lump today, just stripping it down for cleaning, painting and new gaskets/seals etc. [Image: 14333C7B-56AA-4746-B4D7-17A8F964B866_zpskw0d7bn0.jpg]

Not a bad conversion to do, a couple of minor issues with fitting it in but otherwise dead simple, Wiring is the easiest ever thanks to there not being much on the engine

Gearbox is the headache i have at the moment haha. Gonna try using the 106 box with inner driveshaft ends off 106 on 205 driveshafts.

My friend with a tu5j4 205 used the hubs and drive shafts off a pov spec 205 with a gti gearbox, had to shorten the one shaft because the Diff pin makes the gearbox stick out further on the 16v.

Il ask him if he's got any pics :-)

The std MA box which fits the TU Iron block, shafts and hubs are all the same, Only 1.9 GTi models use a large hub spline, inner's are the same
The MA diff just uses a large Sun and planet gear set up on higher power models

a good read on that yellow 205, what came of that in the end?
also how easy is it to do engine transplants and gearbox swops from other pugs and citrons with these?

Any 205 from around 1990 have the engine mounts in the right place, Earlier TU engine and XY engine's had them in different positions which means extra work to mount the mount
The yellow one should be MOT'd on Fri this week if everything goes to plan

That's going to be an excellent conversion, it should keep all the light and agile aspects of the car?

There was a carbon roof skin floating around for sale the other day

Starting to look great although one thing. Have you painted the mating face for the manifold in that last pic? If so, clean it up back to bare metal otherwise you may have sealing issues.

Ah cool. There is something really satisfying about a freshly built clean engine. Shame it won't stay like that for 5 minutes after the first start lol.
