It's more the cost and timing etc. Already have my Xmas holidays booked and would be too much of a trek/faff to get that far south in the time I have off.

Plus I hate putting my fate in someone else's hands. I'm working the odd day over Xmas and the thought of something happening and not making a flight back terrifies me, can't afford to not be able to make it back, at least with the car i'd have the RAC to rely on.

Yeah but Portsmouth is literally the arse end of the country, couldn't be a worse location. But the poll will be decided by the convenience for the southern members, why should someone around London/South coast vote for somewhere a couple of hours away when Pompey is just around the corner? They'd put themselves first, hence the Pompey vote, and anyone who lives a fair distance away ie. Northerners will be accused of moaning etc because they "don't get it their own way".

Fact of the matter is, there's members all over the UK, but any meets are usually very Southern biased. That doesn't sound like "let's get as many people together as possible", it sounds more like "lets make it as easy as possible for the Southern clique and f*ck anybody else."

Time after time..

You would be surprised. Looking over who has voted for where, a lot haven't actually voted for the closest to their house.
Other thing you have to think of Chris is that the majority of members are below Birmingham. We could put the meet in Glasgow but there would only be a handful of people going because of the journey for 2 days.
Its like business. If your target customers are solely based in London, you dont put your shop in Aberdeen do you?

So you have target customers on the forum then?

Hate to break it to you, but all of your customers should be important. This isn't a business, it's a community, location should be based on the maximum possible attendance. But because Southerners never have to travel further than a couple of hours for pretty much anything they buckle at the thought of driving a bit further.

Look at Knockhill today. Classic example.

You said you could have the meet in Glasgow but only a handful of people would go because of the travel time. Conversely having it down in Portsmouth you can count on the fact I won't go. Not to be a dick, but if you're validating your point with travelling time so am I. Drive to Glasgow airport, fly to London, get a lift off someone from there to Portsmouth, do the same to get back in time for my return flight, then drive back from Glasgow airport? And somehow squeeze all that into the few days I have off?

Nope. Not feasible.

But who said it will be Portsmouth anyway? This is why we have put the vote out to you guys!
And no we dont have a target customer. Anyone can join but if you look, most people are in the south. Yes i do agree, no matter where it is, someone wont be happy. Your a bit of an extreme example as you are probably the furthest northern member. And with knock hill, again how many members are that far north. i was going to fly it and get a lift from someone until i saw how expensive tickets were at last minute buying.
Anyway not to spam this thread up, if you want to carry this on, PM me Smile

i'll change my vote to Milton Keynes i reckon because, i'm not saying it's easy to sort but this voting on location business just doesn't work as it should, people vote for close to them and then it ends up in Portsmouth only because you have 1 or 2 more members near there, therefore alienating everyone else, it should be central end of story . . . . .Smile

or ends up in York pissing off the Southerners . . . you get my drift.

lol spellowe, put your vagina away! even jonny has voted for pompey, here me out -

The poll is open; i don't mind travelling (travelled to coventry for the last 2 years and reading) which isn't an issue. I only vote pompey because it's my doorstep.

MK is HOTTT on po'po, with a lot of people with modified cars, IMO is asking for trouble.

York is a bit TOO far for most down here, but gloucester isn't too shabby; i wouldn;t mind this. that's my second vote.

This is my point. Not including the fact that in Midlands but either way I couldn't care to much. But having it north makes it unfair to Southeners, having it South makes it unfair to northerners. So agree to disagree and meet in the middle

So you driving two hours is ok? What about the prospect of continually having to drive 5 hours + for any proper OC meets? Portsmouth would be 7 hours without traffic. But as long as you have a good night, who cares whether or not I can make it, right? This is my point re: voting for places near to you down South. People put themselves first. And if anyone isn't happy at the thought of a 1000 mile round trip they get accused of being a moany bitch, riiiight...

And Jonny stays 2.5 hours South of me. Or do you all forget that the North isn't just a quaint wee area where we all live next door to each other?

But the point is NO one else is up there?? Ok, very FEW are up there. It's not being selfish to an extent, why would the majority travel 7+ hours for a meet for those few north?

I suggest you check out the "where are we" map which was put up, 80% of the countries members are south of nottingham, again, between here and there (to accomodate the majority) is MK / gloucester way, 2 hours or so for both parties; id be happy with that.

Again pellowe, vagina, away Makeup

Again, Ginge, maybe have a re-read of my point. I didn't say I wanted a meet to be up North. What I said was Portsmouth is a f*cking retarded location for a "community" to meet as it rules out a huge amount of Northern members.

And again, if you had to face a 7 hour trip, you'd moan like f*ck. Let's face it, if you were told the meet was going to 100% be in Carlisle, you'd show more of your vagina than Katie Price climbing out of a taxi.

7 hours for me and 10 minutes for you? Or 4.5hours for me and a couple of hours for you? Which would you say is fairer?

Oh wait, you've answered that already.

Last year we decided where to hold the meet. Everyone kicked off that we'd decided without putting it to vote. This year we put it to vote with four good choices, everyone kicks off.

There are a hell of a lot more members in the South than there is in the North. It's a fact and we can't change that. But actually, a lot of the Southern members, including lots of staff, have voted for Milton Keynes or Gloucester. Just because Portsmouth is there doesn't mean we're trying to favour anyone. Frankly if we were it would have been Heathrow, then it's on mine and Scott's doorstep, close to Dum-Dum, Niall, Grant, Ed and more!

Portsmouth, like the other locations, was chosen for it's variety of things to do. There's the beach, shopping, cinema/bowling/casino, some of the countries best driving roads and there's also a place called Playzone (indoor play center open to adults with alcohol on a Friday night). Milton Keynes has similar and if the police know a meet is taking place they're more lenient about it.

Let me assure everyone that there is absolutely NO intention in this poll to favour any members. Four spread out locations were chosen and it's up to everyone to choose the best place for them.

Actually, yeah I would. Because i'd rather more people went. I'm realistic in not expecting you all to travel the full length of the country to go to a night out.

But hey.. not my decision. And it's pointless saying a lot of Southern members are voting for midland locations... Portsmouth is still winning.

Understood. We actually considered Bristol which would have been right on your doorstep but the cost of hotels etc made it unfeasible. Had Bristol been on the list would you have voted for MK instead?

We honestly are trying to cover as much ground as possible with our options. Portsmouth is still over an hour's drive for me, it's not on everybody's doorstep! It really was put up there for the fact that there's so much for people to do there. Just like Reading was last year.

The poll is there for people to vote for what they want. Those are the four locations.

Yeah, but just like in politics, 26% of votes could win it for Pompey, but 74% would have effectively voted NOT for Pompey.

It doesn't mean the majority want it there.

Can i just point out, A lot of effort has gone into deciding on these 4 locations. We havent just chucked down 4 markers randomly on a map. We have tried to take stuff to do, parking, hotels and costs, eating and ease into account for EVERYONE. We will never please everyone so our best method is to please as many as possible. probably 75%ish of members are in the south so we were never going to put it in Aberdeen. Barely anyone would turn up.
