Just saying hi to every one from Australia. Just bought a 306 with a leaking heater matrix I new about it and got it any way because the car has full service history and has been very well looked after. I think I will bypass the heater for the time being as I don't like the smell of the coolant, As soon as I took it for a spin I realized how good these cars are to drive.

Its advised not to by pass the matrix, as you will drastically reduce the amount of water in the cooling system, there for not cooling the engine efficiently , over heating and damaging the engine
