Difference between phase 2 xud and hdi dial clusters?
#1
So going to sell my metal monkey phase 1 clocks and use some phase 2 clocks. Saves changing the wiring over in the car.

But the hdi clocks and phase 2 clocks look the same. So what's the difference?

Cheers.

They're essentially the same, but the HDi is the same style as Petrol clocks, i.e. it's tacho is driven off the ECU, whereas the XUD ones are driven off a VR sensor so won't work.

However, they do just plug in their place.

I have seen a few with oil gauges on them, but some say they are hdi and others say they are phase 2.

I have bought a set from a phase 2 now with out the oil gauge, so should be ok.

XUDs sometimes have oil level gauges, just depends. Mine does, plugged in and it works perfectly.

Might be worth getting another set and ditching the aftermarket one.
