Guide: Changing a Rheostat/Blower motor resistor (phase 1)

Righto to get started your going to need a car...

This one should do.

Now find this bugger of a screw. Right in the middle of the scuttle panel. Remove it.

Now you need to flick the wipers on quick then whip the key out when they're up right, like so:

Now slide the scuttle down and out, gently but you will need a bit of muscle, mine was wedged on there.

Now its out you have this to look at. Remove the 3 13mm bolts holding that triangular piece of metal in. Also pictured here:

My bottom bolt was a quite rusty and seized so i greased it alot when i put it back.

Now thats out the way its time to remove this plastic rubbery thing. Best technique so far is to grab the bottom right corner as your looking at it and pull that out so the whole bottom is out then yank the top out after. Your then left with:

Now, you see on the ends of that black thing it has like handles? Grab those and pull. Im pretty sure they had some kind of silicone on them from factory so its a bit sticky.

Take your new/replacement resistor in hand, tah dah:

Plug it in and put it back in its little hole.

Now go test your heaters and enjoy! Big Grin
