Nah, an angry man on the internets said it's too cheap to be a gt20. Must be a T2.

So tempted to buy them both and sell them on. What ill do though is list them as a vague vauxhall turbo and hope someone looking for a k03 buys them and ill be quids in.

Well decided it was silly not to buy it. Some other GT20s here if anyone wants them:

With the VNT ones is it possible to just unbolt the VNT part of it? All it is is a ring with variable vanes on it after all.

yeah just unbolt the vnt control...you dont need that...

I mean millions of £££s of development and research into VNT, pointless.

Yeah, no need for the vnt vanes, just take them out.

Okay, great, thanks again guys! I'll just buy a few of the VNT units going cheap then, for spares.

If you're not using a proper controller, do not buy a vnt turbo.

I'd love to have a VNT, I'm sure a few people on here run them with no electronic gubbins and have decent results however lacking in reliability.

Earlier VNT's such as the VNT-25 (which is basically a T25 with a "VNT ring on the turbine") can be controlled mechanically which is the same or similar (I believe) to what Ginge was/has put on his 205.

But a mechanical controller is still a controller. He's thinking of just putting it on without a controller or apparently putting it on but removing the vanes.

Oh dear... If you take the vanes out it won't boost much (if at all) as the air will just go around the turbine wheel rather than into it..... That's why they don't need a wastegate as the boost drops off when the vanes are fully open.

As others said you will need some sort of control for a VNT, you can't just take the vanes out. I guess you could compromise by setting them in a 'middle' position permanently, but that would be pointless as you'd gain lag and lose top end. So basically just get a non-vnt unless you're gonna control it...either that or just buy a newer car with a VNT already installed, saves a lot of hassle! lol

He may not be, but there's a danger of newbies reading threads like this and not understanding sarcasm and thinking it's actually possible or even a good idea to do this like this Smile
