Worth getting a gt15 turbo?
#1
I currently have a t2, someone I know is selling a gt15
I know there both standard fitment turbos, but is the gt 15 better than a t2 in any way. Only ask as I'm gonna have the turbo off in next few days for the hg change

GT15 has some nice low down, pulling power, as far as BHP goes, it's outta puff top end.

A nice little turbo, and for the fun factor id swap it for the T2. ThumbsUp

As far as I know it's fine boosts well just a bit laggy with the fmic

Is there any way of making the t2 spool a bit quicker

seeing as i run a T2 now and have ran a K14 and a K03 in the past, i can't say i bum the gt15, but i know i loove the epic low spoolers. Angel

I'd say so - would be "pushing" the limit, but achieveable. Keep sensible EGT's and pressures, you should be ok.

If you want that power bracket comfortably, keep the T2

sure you don't have a boost leak mate? . . . . most people report no noticeable difference after fitting fmic . . .Smile

Sounds like you have a boost leak tbh. Unless your fmic is MASSIVE. Shouldnt take much longer to fill the system atall.

If your really going through all the effort of changing the turbo, get a newer more modern turbo?

Look at GT17/GT20, best of both worlds

Gt15's do not like high boost though, I think they overspeed very easily and self destruct. I think a K03 would be a better standard choice if you want something smaller as they are a little tougher, but they have all done 100k+ miles so most are getting a little too tired to be pushed.

No boost leaks still around 18 psi as before the intercooler was fitted. Maybe a bit more fuel low down will get it going better

A GT15 spools fast and runs out quick whereas a T2 come in later but punches harder. You'd have to find a way to fit it to an XUD exhaust manifold anyway as the GT15's came on HDi's... Unless you can swap the exhaust housings on the turbo's

Id run a GT15 over a T2.

Airflow isnt much odds up high acually, and you get a much cleaner / crisp drive.

But if your gunna change it, then put something better on Smile
