driveshaft help meee
#1
I am trying to change my drivers side drive shaft ive got the hub off the 4 bolts off the bit that holds the end of the drive shaft up with the bit that turns. Not shure of the name of it, and as far as I know the rest of the shaft should pull out but it moves about 2" then stops solid as if there is something else holding it on any help would be great.

You've taken off the mount that holds the bearing.... Bolt it back!

Undo the 2 nuts beside the driveshaft and rotate the bolts out of the way. You can see one of the bolts in this pic.....

Then using a plank of wood and a big feck off hammer, position the wood on the metal coupling and hammer the driveshaft out, rotating after every blow. Coupling on driveshaft:

Mind the rubber dust guard at the other end....

You may not need to hit it with a hammer.
Some driveshafts I've found slide out with ease

It wont have been the drivers side lol...........unless its already been changed.

Any that have been stuck in that intermediate bearing for 10 years are unlikely to just fall out.........I've done 3 HDi ones that all needed lots of hammering lol.

Both sides on a majority of my cars have slid out, the point of my post was to say that try removing it by pulling on the side which connects to the gearbox first before hitting it lol.

Unless you wish for it to just fly out and crack either yourself or someone helping you Wink
