I average 25mpg usually... But that's not really taking it steady, 6's just beg to be hooned :/ They aren't bad over long MW journeys though

30mph roads are terrible for my '6, they run quite hot and the amount of gear changing is horrible, let alone the mpg.
On the other hand if you're on a 60mph road at a steady pace they're not too bad, but I think they're made for A-B road driving Smile

Ive recently purchased a hdi (was missing my first car) but its nothing like it. Im really tempted to get one but i mainly drive diesels and ill end up going crazy if i get a 6 and it kills my wallet on fuel LOL.

If you're working out if you can afford it, you should forecast on 25-28mpg.

I've driven mine as a daily since September last year (17mile commute each way on a slightly hilly, largely national speed limit A-road), and I was getting about 33mpg driving sensibly, but lately I've been getting about 28, mostly as the sun's been out Tongue

I work 13 miles away but the commute is rubbish! stop and start stuck in traffic and at lights.

What would i be getting mpg wise if i stage 2 my hdi?

Careful driving you'll still see 50+ on a healthy engine

My GTi6 averaged just over 20mpg throughout my entire ownership of it. Round town would of been worse. With the same driving a stage 2 HDi would scrape 40mpg

They're near impossible to drive slowly because they have absolutely no guts unless you open the throttle... When your economy goes down the pan.

I was getting 30-32mpg out of mine daily, however if you looked at the throttle, thatd be in the 20s easily...

My DT I average 48-50 daily and that's at least 160hp and so much more driveable... Ive never thought god I miss nailing it off the limiter, if I ever think that and then round a corner and bury the loud pedal into the shagpile as 250+lbft slingshots you out of the corner... And I then remember why I have a Diesel...

Speechless damn! Theyre not so good then. I get around 16-19mpg in my 330i Close to 35 on the motorway! It annoys the fek out of me though knowing it drinks that much.

Im too cheap Sad

dude, don't go by what he says, he can't even remember what his '6 looks like it's been that long since he's driven it! Tongue
Seriously though, Puglove you've either got a big problem with your '6 or you drive like a hooligan every time you drive it..... and given it's a sunshine only car, I'd imagine it's the latter!! which means your average mpg is irrelevant in this thread!!

We can all dick-swing about how low the mpg goes when we give it death, but realistically with mixed driving, not being particularly careful and with the occasional blat you can get 28mpg on a tank (what I'm currently on for, and thinking about it, I've probably been fairly heavy-footed this tank!)

High 40's are no bother on a run. Had 48mpg on the last trip I did 40 miles at between 60 and 70 ( on the trip computer, which is surprisingly accurate tbh)
Daily driving its around 40 miles to a tenner.
