Turbo change cost?
#1
With the blue smoke on start up and constant whining I think it might be new/bigger Wink turbo time. What would I be looking at paying for a turbo change? Probably get the clutch done at the same time thinking about it, what would you reckon for both? Really don't have a clue but I'd imagine it won't be cheap!

Depends where you go and if you know people. I know a chap that does clutch changes on most normal road cars for 100quid. But you could take it kwik fit and pay 400+ lol
Doesnt even own a 306.

You can keep your HDi box buddy purely for the STUPIDLY massive gaps in ratios.

A HDi takes all the sportyness out of the drive!!! Nail it in 2nd to the governor, change, off the power again - f*ck MY LIFE!

Round my way it'd be ~£550 for a good independent and more like £1500 at a main dealer... :|

If its as easy as doing it on an XUD then I'd have a pop at it yourself.

Dave - most mechanics... or should I say reputable ones have that program where they type in car, the job, then it gives them approximately the amount of hours to do a job. I personally think 300 to change it is extortion or they ain't experienced in doing them... but if your putting a bigger blower on if its not direct fit that's another issue also that may take more labour so 300 might be there or there abouts.

But 300 would mean my mechanic has taken 10 hours to do the job for me. I know he ain't taking half that

But most mechanics would charge around 50-100 an hour

Suppose im just lucky getting mates rates at a VAG specialist. He even lets me borrow his stamper for my SH book when i get things changed things like crank pulleys, tensioners, aux belt etc.

But he doesnt do custom stuff like non oem turbo's, if its been modified to go straight on then he probably will but he wont arse about welding and he doesnt want his ramps held up - he makes more money servicing 3 year old german cars
