After a fmic for my hdi, not 100% sure what size I need so wary of buying a universal from eBay. After one that doesn't make the job any more difficult than it needs to be. If you have other parts lying around too please let me know.

Its not an exact science so most universal jobs will do

Yea admin will move soon pal. And as said universal will do you just need a top manifold pipe off the 406 hdi iirc to fit pipe onto

Twin pass will be the best be on a hdi, im looking at these for my gti, maybe of some use for you

Single pass is better for flow, twin is easier to install. To give you an idea of numbers: 870mm between the front chassis legs, rad is 750mm wide, gap on the ns is ~80mm, os is <50mm.

Should be fine, someone on here is using a mondeo intercooler i think on a xud so should be suitable for hdi use
