FMIC question

hi guys i have purchased a FMIC and going to fit it at the weekend. i cant remember then name of the part but in the pic is a strongbow can with a pipe going through it between the inlet and the battery. picture took from seller. why is this here and have i got to do the same thing. just want to make sure. cheers guys.

Looks like its to catch oil in from the breather if you've still got standard air box on you shouldn't need to touch that pipe anyways but if not just point it downwards
