Soooo....
My cars been parked under a tree while off the road, and there was bird shit all over it, some a month old now, which I attempted to wash off today. Three washes later it was still visible, two polishes with SRP haven't don't anything at all, so I've waxed it now and still very visible. :problem:
Is there any way to get rid of these dull marks....cos they're not exactly small, bloody osteriches shit I think tbh.
Cheers,
Tom

Also called birdlime in the industry
A machine polish should make it better but it does have a habit if leaving marks

Yeah tbh I don't see any difference after SRP that I wouldn't get with just wax lol.
What polish would you use then?
It's not the roof Sam, its the wing bonnet and door....f*cking birds.

I have two of these also, on the roof near the ariel on the Focus. Didn't notice them when I first bought it! But now I've cleaned it a few times it's obvious and it's annoying.
Gonna have a go at giving it a good polish after I clay the car in a few weeks.

It is that bird shite is acidic. You need to take it down with compound, Meguiars ultimate compound, then polish and wax...

According to autoglym that isn't the reason. :?
Apparently its cos the warm soft laquer moulds around the shit as it cools down (overnight for example) so its then 'rough' rather than smooth and shiny when you take the shit away.
I'm not sure what compuond even is lol, I'll have a look tomorow in town though.

It's the amonia in the bird shit because bird shit isn't just 'shit' it's bird piss also, that's what eats into the paint work, the extra heat just accelerates the process

Exactly this. A good layer of wax will help protect to an extent but doesn't make it immune!! AG do a pack of wipes you can bung in the glove box to wipe it off.
If you want to look a tit and go and buy a Matt black M3 or similar, you have to be so stupidly careful with the paint. Get bird shit on it for a few days an it literally ruins it.
Clean it and leave water marks on the surface and they will ruin the finish!
