Hi all,
After a wee bit of help here.... just got my lovely new cyclones and now find that nobody seems to be able to balance alloys with no center hole! Struck out at a local place through Blackcircles and also now struck out with National Tyre.
Any advice on mainstream tyre places that you guys know that can do them? Made worse by the fact that hardly anywhere stocks Toyos which is what I want.
Thanks
Craig

I have one local place I used. Not many can do it.
You in Scotland?

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah, in Scotland. I genuinely hadn't thought about this issue but I now realise that only a few (mostly French) manufacturers went for centreless wheels, so most places didn't tool up for it. There's a few ATS places near me that are on Black Circles fitters list so I think I will phone round and check if they can do it then if so, choose them as the fitter on my order.
Only thing is I wonder if the place might still refuse or maybe try to charge me extra as I have read it takes alot longer due to having to setup the stud pattern / recalibrate etc. I imagine these places get a going rate from folks like Black Circles to do the fitment and it is likely based on the assumption that it is a centre balance being done. We shall see.

I can’t believe after all these years this is still an issue ? I remember running my first GTI on unbalanced wheels for months... 9 years ago!!

It's more of an issue now than it used to be. No-one makes centreless wheels any more so there are very few left and it's just not worth buying the extra parts with a new tyre machine when garages start up or refurb now.
ATS always used to balance them well and with no additional charge. Seem to remember their machine always used a hub rather than a centre spike anyway so it wasn't any extra work to do centreless.

So ATS up here can't do it either . I have found a place local to me that can thankfully and I have booked the fitting with them. I explained to the guy what wheels it was (on the phone) and he didn't mention anything about extra charge etc - I explained I would be ordering on Black Circles and picking them as a fitter. I'll post back regarding how that goes. Bit worried that this is a situation that will only get worse and may not be able to get tyres fitted at all in the future but hey ho.
So a couple of questions - what did cully do and what can I do with brick and a bubble ?! lol
Cheers
Craig

Short answer is no.....having used a balancing machine plenty, it's not a case of just attaching a hub. You do need a specialist attachment for centreless wheels unfortunately

Got it done in the end. Local Mconechy's in East Kilbride had the adapter. Bonus points for the guy being totally sound and a huge 306 fan. He had a ph2 306 D turbo like mine previously and was delighted to see my car, ended up having a right good gab with him. Thanks for all the advice. Just getting used to the wheels now. Might sound odd but being used to the harriers the 15" cyclones look huge to me!

Pain in the arse getting cyclones balanced now! I had to buy a set of alloys just to get mine through its test 2 years ago, as no fucker could balance them, or were that keen to do. Hopefully i can try and sort that out when i can get the budget. As they are just sitting in the garden looking very tatty!
