Hi, red Rallye from Scotland
#1
Hi all, I actually own a red D turbo ph1 as well. It was my first car and still with me today, it's currently sleeping in the garage and in need of much TLC Doh  Its got a nice pair of rust holes in the footwells and now i have picked myself up a red ph2 Rallye because apparently one car with rust problems was not enough. Anyway as i plan on fixing both cars I thought it be worth signing up and introducing myself.

welcome to the club! check out bens rallye restoration. He is putting all of us to shame right now. Stick a project thread up in the projects section. Pugfest is the show you really want to come to! Big Grin

Thanks and I have had a read through his project, interesting stuff. Shame about the photobucket pics. I plan on starting a project thread but I'll wait till the ball is rolling. Would love to get to Pugfest but we shall see. Uni can take up a lot of my time.

edit - Hey, can anyone recommend a place to get the cam belt and water pump changed in Scotland for my Rallye? See people saying to get pug specialists to do it and only one i see close to me being Ecosse. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them?

People keep asking when ill be getting rid of my old 306, its hard for them to understand why I'm keeping both  Confused

Any way some pics of the D turbo when i got it years ago, not looking as good right now.

where in scotland are you? I am also in Scotland. I don't think it is neccessary to have a dealer perform the cam belt change, I used my trusted local small garage to do this work (on my dturbo). I have done the work myself previously (on another XUD engined 306).

Hey i'm actually 10min from Carluke, got any garages you'd recommend? I've got it booked in now since i just wana drive it and didn't know when it had last been done but since its recommended to get it done so frequently having more options would be better.

Anyone know of a way to make the drivers seat lower than the mechanism allows? I'm sure i read in the past you could remove the mechanism and get it slightly lower but that may of been a different car.

Yaay. That's cool that you are nearby. Don't see many of these cars around now! Where are you then ? towards Lanark or Newmains? We'll need to have a (very)mini meet lol.
I use a garage which I have used for years, but it is down where I used to live near Uddingston. I've done my own timing belt in the past but struggled for time and needing the car on this one, so got them to do it. Great wee independant garage. Park Autos. Unfortunately they just had an electrical fire in the roof of the workshop and are currently getting the building repaired and trying to work out of an adjacent building, so probably not the best time!

Might see you around!

Cheers
Craig

You may see me around, I drive through Carluke most days tho not in my Rallye yet, mostly a blue corsa just now. I like to do the work on my car myself but i can't weld nor do i wana mess with the timing. It's a shame about the garage but ill keep them in mind next time Im looking for work done. I live out Carnwath way so neither. We should have a mini meet at some point definitely.

Coincidentally my name is Craig too!    lol

Ha ha another Craig. Too funny. Nice road from Carnwath over to Biggar. Drive it often in my classic mini. I'll look out for you!
