Oil pump chain tension
#1
Hi,

I've noticed there is more slack then I thought there would be on the chain to the oil pump.

Is there a auto tensioner on these engines or is the slack normal?

Fairly normal for there to be some slack, although i expect 340k of wear has got something to do with it. So long as you can't make it slip a tooth it'll be fine.

check the tooth wear, theres no tensioner but there is a shim under the pump. only one size though.
need a part number? http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ and http://service.citroen.com/ will sort you out.

Nice one, thanks guys.

I did check the sprocket for wear and it looks good.

Chain is a little loose on it but no where near slipping off or teeth.

I should have videoed the movement of the chain for your opinion but it sounds fine.
